I’m up at the wee hours of the morning (OK, it’s 5 am… I had a solution to a problem, and couldn’t get back to sleep). As I was perusing some blogs I noticed this entry from Scoble. I want to say first that I really like Scoble. When I’m a good blogger, I like to believe that it’s Scoble’s influence that has done this for me (his and Rory’s <grin />). I guess with all that I’m going through right now, he caught me off guard (or maybe I caught him napping).
The article bemoans “When I was in Montana I met people who hadn't heard of blogs, podcasts, or Second Life (or even Windows Vista). You know, normal people. People who have other things to care about than what is on TechMeme.” Honestly, as I read it again I’m not sure if he’s serious or not… I’m guessing not.
For the record, I’m working from Ohio for a little bit as we help my dad get settled, and help him clean up his house. You see, my mom passed away in February at 57 years old… way too young to die of a heart attack. My mom didn’t take such good care of herself. She needed to exercise more.
So in light of that I want to tell you that it’s OK to not know anything about “blogs, podcasts, or Second Life (or even Windows Vista).” In fact some of us need to pull away from our keyboards and get out of our “closets” where we program and enter the real world where there are people and things to do other than play “God of War.” Ultimately it’s life that matters not computers… they’re just fun.
